In fact was doing an inspection yesterday on a large golf club where some of the smaller outbuildings were wired in 3-core swa with one of the cores used as earth. However, the armour was cut back at both ends but the wire ends were taped over. WebMay 18, 2024 · SWA is not double insulated hence restrictions on its use as mains tails and in PV installations. So if it is not double insulated then not earthing the armour is an issue. Agree totally – armour should normally be earthed, as a minimum at one end, and unless we are intentionally “islanding” two earth zones, then at both ends.

If you are going to use the SW for Earth, then you will need to use the banjo on the gland, and take an earth from this to the fitting earth.
